Constantine tells the story of irreverent supernatural detective John Constantine, who has literally been to hell and back.
Why It Made The List: It's a solid adaption of the comic book series despite what people think of Keanu Reeves. A sequel had been rumored for a long time but seems to be in limbo hell.

Adapted From Blade The Vampire (Marvel Comics)
Starring Wesley Snipes, Steven Dorff
Director: Steven Norrington
Domestic Box Office Total: $70 Million
A half-vampire, half-mortal man becomes a protector of the mortal race, while slaying evil vampires.
Why It Made The List: The film was made when Snipes was a huge bankable star, and solid action mixed with a cool vampire story made for a great comic book adaption. It also showed an R rated superhero could be done and make money at the box office.

Adapted From The Mighty Thor (Marvel Comics)

The powerful but arrogant warrior Thor is cast out of the fantastic realm of Asgard and sent to live amongst humans on Earth, where he soon becomes one of their finest defenders.
Why It Made The List: Well because it's a damn enjoyable film. A bit hokey in parts yes, but the action scenes were fantastic, and it made for a solid and satisfying story leading into Thor joining The Avengers in next summer's blockbuster film. It maybe could have place higher and maybe one day it will!

Director: Bryan Singer
Domestic Box Office Total: #157 Million
Two mutants come to a private academy for their kind whose resident superhero team must oppose a terrorist organization with similar powers.
Why It Made The List: The team super hero film was something that Hollywood was afraid to do. Director Bryan Singer showed it could be done and done well with a solid adaption of the mutant super heroes. Without X-Men's success, we may not be getting an Avengers movie.

Adapted From The Watchmen (DC COmics)
Starring Jackie Earle Haley and Billy Crudup
Director: Zach Snyder
Domestic Box Office Total: $107 Million
In an alternate 1985 where former superheroes exist, the murder of a colleague sends active vigilante Rorschach into his own sprawling investigation, uncovering something that could completely change the course of history as we know it.
Why It Made The List: This is a tough book to adapt. Zach Snyder pulls it off pretty well though with a solid adaption. A lot of fans had some gripes with it but really it's a pretty decent film adaption and the director's cut is even better. This is one people will revisit over the years we think and realize how good it is.

Domestic Box Office Total: $70.5 Million
A shadowy freedom fighter known only as "V" uses terrorist tactics to fight against his totalitarian society. Upon rescuing a girl from the secret police, he also finds his best chance at having an ally.
Why It Made The List: It adapts the book almost perfectly and is shot with a nice visual style that the Wachowski brothers bring to it. It's safe to say that it's a better film than their Matrix films, even the original Matrix.

Domestic Box Office Total: $116.4 Million
A test pilot is granted a mystical green ring that bestows him with otherworldly powers, as well as membership into an intergalactic squadron tasked with keeping peace within the universe.
Why It Made The List: All though Green Lantern wasn't well received with critics we think it's very good. Could it have been better? Absolutely but it captures the essence of Green Lantern and the film works on more levels than it doesn't work. Bring ont he sequel.

Scott Pilgrim must defeat his new girlfriend's seven evil exes in order to win her heart.
Why It Made The List: Out of all the movies on the list this one might be the most fun. The flick is a total blast and on top of that, it's really good! The poster doesn't lie, it truly is epic in the greatest sense and Michael Cera delivers as Scott Pilgrim.

A demon, raised from infancy after being conjured by and rescued from the Nazis, grows up to become a defender against the forces of darkness.
Why It Made The List: Hellboy features great set design, special effects, a solid story adaption, and believe it or not, a lot of charm for a story about a guy from hell.

Adapted From The Incredible Hulk (Marvel Comics)

Domestic Box Office Total: $134.8 Million
Dr. Bruce Banner, thanks to a gamma ray experiment gone wrong, transforms into a giant green-skinned hulk whenever his pulse rate gets too high. Meanwhile, a soldier uses the same technology to become an evil version of the original.
Why It Made The List: This is the hulk movie we were waiting for. It's brutal. It's got solid story. The Hulk kicks ass! And it leads into The Avengers next summer!
