Bradley Cooper Exits The Crow

Bradley Cooper was set to star as Eric Draven in the proposed remake of The Crow, but has now officially walked away from the project due to scheduling conflicts.  Word is that Channing Tatum or Mark Wahlberg may fill the role.  Let's hope neither fills the role and this project just dies.  holly wood doesn't have to remake every damn movie and The Crow doesn't need a remake!  If Tatum or Wahlberg got the role, we hope that Brandon Lee rises from the grave and kicks their asses himself for considering making this film!

The Crow Remake Is Still Being Made (Ugh) And Has A Director

We understand that Hollywood is on a  remake/reboot trend but for fucks sake let some things alone.  Yah we aren't happy about this as you can tell because we dropped an f bomb.  The original 1994 The Crow starring Brandon Lee is to this day, still one of the best comic book adaptions on screen.  Just as John Woo's The Killer doesn't need a remake, neither does The Crow.  The project had seemingly died when director Stephen Norrington dropped off but apparently not as a new director has been named.   Relativity have officially announced that 28 Weeks Later director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo will direct the remake/reboot.  Relativity released this statement: “Juan Carlos Fresnadillo is an incredibly talented and imaginative filmmaker,” says Executive Producer Tucker Tooley, "We are thrilled to have him at the helm and are excited to work with both Pressman and Apaches on what we all believe will be a compelling and innovative reimagining of The Crow.”  
     "The original Crow was groundbreaking cinema," adds prodcuer Edward R. Pressman, "Its gothic visual and musical ideas influenced a generation and cinema itself. With Juan Carlos, we have every confidence that his new Crow will have a similar impact on the contemporary audience."
      If the film does get made, TMIAJ will go see it, but let's hope it's worth its celluloid and does justice to the franchise.  Brandon Lee did a phenomenal job as Eric Draven and the film is his legacy due to his untimely death.  The Crow is due in theaters in 2012.

Norrington Off Crow Remake Project

Stephen Norrington has dropped off of The Crow remake project.  An unnamed star was apparently excited to work with Norrington but then rejected the script.  Rumors over the past few days said Mark Wahlberg was offered the role but it doesn't seem Norrington was referring to him.  Let's hope this project dies completely now.  We don't need a remake/reimagining of The Crow.  The 1994 film was good enough and is a modern classic!

The Crow Will Fly Again

I really am against the reboot of The Crow, but it looks like it's inevitable that it's going to be made. The producer recently spoke out on the reboot and had this to say.

The io9 website chatted up producer Ryan Kavanaugh, currently out promoting 'Brothers'. He is also a producer on the relaunch 'The Crow'.

During the Q & A Kavanaugh confirmed many facts that people already knew: The script is in good shape. The story does not focus on Eric Draven, but rather a new character. Attention has now shifted to casting.

"The script is great. We're very excited about it," Kavanaugh said of director Stephen Norrington's work. "'The Crow' is definitely going to happen, we're just getting all the pieces together right now. It's not officially greenlit, but it's going to happen... I think in a couple months we could have the package together for sure."

Kavanaugh said plans are to relaunch the character as "a dark Superhero type" and they're looking for the right actor to fill the bill.

"It will be an actor you've heard of.... We're not ruling anything out. We're looking at both, with the very well known and the 'very talented but they may not be quite there yet,'" the producer said.

He also said they plan to tweak the character's iconic goth. "He'll have makeup, but it will be different. The best way to compare it is the first 'Batman' and 'Batman Begins'. In terms of their look and feel and character."

Sigh....it's probably going to suck.

The Crow Reboot - Why?

Check this out......I really hope this doesn't happen. The original is classic.

A source close to the production exclusively revealed to Comics2Film that Stephen Norrington's current draft of The Crow reboot has been "very well received" by Relativity Media. According to their source, the project is moving forward and attention will now turn to casting the film. If this is true, expect some announcements within the next few weeks, along with a planned 2011 release. In the comics, a man brutally murdered comes back to life as an undead avenger of his and his fiancée's murder. Earlier this year Norrington told Variety, "[Alex] Proyas’ original was gloriously gothic and stylized, the new movie will be realistic, hard-edged and mysterious, almost documentary-style."
