New Mortal Kombat Movie Is Koming

Mortal Kombat is still immensely popular over the years, and the original 1995 film really isn't as bad as people might think it is.  Well a new film is on the way hot off the extremely popular web series, Mortal Kombat Legacy..  Kevin Tancharoen, who directed the MK Legacy shorts, will direct the film and he's all ready talking about the brutality he feels the movie needs to have.  “Up to this point, we’ve only been talking ‘rated R,’” says Tancharoen. “I like realistic takes on things, I like it when it’s a little darker and grittier. And I want the martial arts to feel real as opposed to balletic and super-choreographed. It needs to feel brutal, because that’s the nature of the video game itself.”  No word yet as to when this will hit theaters, but you can bet teenage boys drooling for video game violence will show up.

Mortal Kombat Legacy Coming To Blu-Ray & DVD

Kevin Tancharoen's popular Mortal Kombat: Legacy - a series that unraveled over the web - is making its DVD and Blu-Ray debut via Warner Home Entertainment. The series will hit stores  on November 8.

Mortal Kombat: Legacy Clip

We reported yesterday on the upcoming Mortal Kombat web series and today we have more details and a clip from the show!  Warner Bros. Digital Distribution and Machinima.com today announced they have signed an agreement to premiere and distribute the highly anticipated “Mortal Kombat: Legacy” live action digital series produced by Warner Premiere. Directed by Kevin Tancharoen (“Fame”), and starring Jeri Ryan (“Star Trek: Voyager”) as “Sonya Blade,” Michael Jai White (“The Dark Knight”) as “Major Jackson ‘Jax’ Briggs” and Darren Shahlavi (“300”) as “Kano,” this series will take gamers deep into the history of the warriors they know and love.

The first action-packed episode of “Mortal Kombat: Legacy” will debut April 12 exclusively on Machinima, the dominant entertainment network for videogamers on YouTube (www.youtube.com/machinima). Fans from around the world will be able to watch and engage with the entire “Mortal Kombat: Legacy” series through Machinima’s YouTube channel.

Written by Kevin Tancharoen , Aaron Helbing and Todd Helbing, “Mortal Kombat: Legacy” is an anthology of nine live action shorts, and brings to life the motivation behind each character’s participation in the Mortal Kombat tournament. Each episode will provide never-before-revealed insights into characters featured in the upcoming videogame as well as the game’s universe. 

Mortal Kombat Web Series Hits Soon

Way back last summer we presented Mortal Kombat Rebirth as our first video pick of the week.  Check that out here!  Well it turns out the popularity of that has led to a brand new web series that will  be debuting April 12th!  Exact links to where it will be seen have not been found yet, so this could all be rumor as to when to the show premieres.  The show itself is defintly coming to the web soon and stars Jeri Ryan from Star Trek Voyager fame.  If we get her in an outfit like the one to the left we will all be watching!
